About Us

Welcome to Ajooni and Ollie's Schoolhouse.

I’m a mama to a four year old (Ajooni) and a dog-mom to a German Shepherd (Ollie). This dynamic duo has brought so much joy to my life and my gift to them is to create a space to share our stories and celebrate yours!

A distinct memory of my childhood was of my father sharing stories about our Sikh history, mostly told to us in Panjabi, that made me feel like I was part of something so much greater than myself. I also grew up in a quintessential Panjabi home and love was shared through my mother's guidance wrapped into her delicious homemade meals.

My husband and I have always known that we want to create similar memories for our daughter, but recognize that her relationship with our Sikh faith and Panjabi culture may look different. As parents, it is simply our goal to share what we know and love, and hope she'll develop her own connection to our history and heritage.

We have some incredible assets within our community - I use this space to curate activities, books and other resources (and maybe create some things too) that will help us celebrate our Sikh faith and Panjabi culture. I'll be sharing it all here in case other mamas, papas, masis, mamay, aunties and uncles want to share these activities with the little ones in their lives. Along the way we will also celebrate other communities and cultures too, just like our Gurus did, and that will make this journey that much more enriching. I invite you to follow along!
